Rolling in Chicago

June 30, 2008 at 11:33 pm (Uncategorized)

We are on our way to film the Chicago story sitting in traffic I-290. Ahhh, it’s so good to be back in Chicago. Seriously, I love this city.

This morning, Andrew is feeling much better – praise God! However, Greg has not been feeling great for the last 24 hours. Please pray for his strength to return.

As always, ask that God will guide us in capturing the story he wants to tell today. The story we are filming is one that opened up for us just a few weeks ago. From the interaction we’ve had through email and on the phone it seems like this will be a really powerful story. We’ll be spending all day with a guy named Len and a couple of his friends. Pray for a very quick and supernatural connection. Pray that they would be at ease with the cameras and we’d be able to have a blast getting to know each other.

Thanks for all your prayers!

Beware of the Arch!

June 28, 2008 at 3:51 am (Uncategorized)

We spent the day traveling around St. Louis capturing footage of the city. We were talking at lunch about the city footage days. When the film is played, it’s going to look like these were some of the most fun and relaxing days a person could have. Turns out, city footage days have been some of our hardest days.

We’ve walked seemingly hundreds of miles in pretty hot conditions! It has been fun to see some great parts of these cities, but we have been absolutely drained by the end of our city footage days.

This morning we started at the St. Louis Zoo. Major props to the Zoo – for starters, it’s FREE and it was really nice! Caleb walked by every cage and held out his arms as if to say he wanted to cuddle with the Grizzly Bear, Laughing Hyenas, or Black Mamba Snake…it was precious.

Later in the day we made our way over to the St. Louis Arch. I think its official subtitle is “The Gateway to the West.” After today I think our team could come up with a few alternative and colorful subtitles for the Arch. I won’t give it all away because I think we’ll have a podcast tomorrow that describes our day in more detail…but let’s just say Andrew was feeling queazy all day and the Arch pushed him over the edge.

We got a lot accomplished today and had a great time as a team. But seriously, the team is exhausted and Andrew went to bed really early still feeling sick. By the time most of you read this, we will be in the midst of setting up for an all day shoot with our St. Louis story. Obviously everyone being drained and Andrew being sick isn’t great for an all day shoot.

Please pray that Andrew will wake up feeling 100% better and that the entire team will be refueled!

You can also pray for Erica tomorrow as she makes her debut appearance as a co-interviewer. She will be joining me on camera as we talk to Allyson and Kelli from St. Louis. Pray that we would have a lot of fun and that a very natural conversation would be able to flow out of our questions. Ask that God would allow us to capture the story he wants to tell through these young ladies.

We will do our best to post another video update tomorrow. Thank you for all your kind words and prayers! It thrills us to know we have a growing community in this with us.

Privileged to be In it with you,

Matt & the BV Team

Safely in St. Louis

June 26, 2008 at 3:06 pm (Uncategorized)

After another long but restful ride yesterday we arrived in St. Louis around 8:00 PM last night. Greg has done an outstanding job driving, and as you saw from the last video it allowed the rest of us to catch up on some much needed rest! We have a full day today as we will be working with the studio that is mastering the audio for the film as well as our composer here in town. Ask God for creativity and continued vision for pulling all of these stories together into one film!

It is amazing to pull into yet another city and be surrounded by such a great team of people here ready to help us in any way. We were able to get a good nights sleep last night and feel ready to hit the ground moving today. More soon, and we will get a video up later tonight. Love you guys.

St. Louis in the Morning!

June 25, 2008 at 2:51 am (Uncategorized)

Wow after another incredible stop, we are packing our bags tonight and preparing to head to St. Louis early tomorrow morning. Dallas has been fantastic! We filmed two beautiful stories and had the opportunity to meet with some incredible people that are going to play a big role in the future of Broken Voices. There are way too specific thank you’s to mention them all – but THANK YOU to everyone for making our time here so so full. We spent our day today in several meetings with local leaders in the Dallas area. We were so encouraged feeling yet again God has brought just the right people to us.

For those back home, thank you as always for your amazing love and support. These past few days have been some of the best but also some of the most taxing on our team. Please continue to pray that we would love and serve each other well as we continue on. We are excited about what God has in store in St. Louis. The story there is one we have all been looking forward to this whole time! We love you guys, thanks for making this RV feel not to far from home.

Rested and Ready

June 23, 2008 at 1:48 pm (Uncategorized)

For those of you who prayed for our day off yesterday, thank you. We had an incredibly restful and relaxing day. It was so good to be able to pull back, de-compress, think, journal, and talk through what all we have been experiencing this last week. Last night we got to be a part of the Powertalk radio show here in Dallas which was a blast! Thanks for those of you who listened and called in. Driving back last night and praying for our team, and these coming days, there is such a feeling of peace and expectation.

Also thanks for those of you who prayed for the weather in south Dallas on Saturday. We had an incredible day and are still trying to get our hearts around all that we took in that day. I can’t put into words how inspiring and moving Kyle’s story was, so I won’t even try. The story is expanding and yet becoming more personal with each story we get to capture. The invitation on our lives is becoming clear, and the dreams about what God could use us to be a part of are expanding daily. Today we are headed to Frisco, Texas to film the story of a guy named Russ. More tonight…

We love you guys and are being truly changed as we travel.
