He’s all I’ve got left!

September 29, 2008 at 4:59 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

We are waking up every single day to a crazier and crazier world. I don’t know where you are sitting today or what your week is looking like, but we are walking in desperate for our God! In the midst of a failing financial market, no gas to be found, and a presidential election, just name to name a few, there’s more than enough to keep us worrying.

In the Broken Voices world…we are trying to promote the film, redesign our website, package the film into a finished DVD, plan events through 2009, and raise support for the organization and our families.

We worked over 100 hours the previous week to meet a deadline and stay on schedule.

How about you? What’s been going on in your life? What has you laying awake at night? Money? Health? Grades? Relationships? Or simply where you are going to find gas tomorrow?

We are all busy. We all have stress. There’s more than enough to worry about. Jesus nailed it when he said, “Don’t worry about tomorrow…Each day has enough trouble of it’s own.” Jesus encouragement to the people in Matthew chapter 6 was to trust God with TODAY. Don’t worry about tomorrow – just concentrate on trusting today – and God will provide. That is a promise! It’s a thought that is changing our lives. It’s also not isolated to Jesus words in Matthew. The idea of waking up and trusting God for his provision today is all over the scriptures.

As we were wrapping up our insane week last week, a faithful friend emailed us these verses from Lamentations 3:22-24. She typed out the verses from three different versions of the Bible. We’ve been soaking on these words all weekend.

22 Beacause of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.

23 They are new every morning:
great is your faithfulness.

24 I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him.”  (NIV)

23 They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness.  (AMP)

22-24 God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out, his merciful love couldn’t have dried up. They’re created new every morning. How great is your faithfulness! I’m sticking with God (I say it over and over). He’s all I’ve got left.  (THE MESSAGE)

We are hoping and praying that these words can come alive for you. Please keep praying that God will grow our faith and trust in him. Pray for those who woke up in a total mess today and need a touch from their heavenly father. We’d also like to be more specifically praying for you. Let us know how we can do that by leaving a comment here or sending an email to mail@bokenvoices.org

In it with you,
Matt & The BV Team

Big Weekend

September 19, 2008 at 5:32 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

Hey guys it’s Friday which means we should have a new post for you, but it’s not a normal Friday around here. We have a huge deadline coming up and have been working almost around the clock, and will continue to work through most of this weekend. More to come on that, but please pray for us as we work. Ask God to pour out his strength, focus, and vision to cut the film in the most powerful way possible.

Below is a screen shot from the editing of Anthem. More coming soon…

Baton Rouge Needs Our Help!

September 10, 2008 at 4:51 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , )

We usually post on Monday and Friday, but our friends over at Catalyst just informed us of a need that we feel is worth passing along to you. Due to the media concentration on Hurricane Gustav hitting New Orleans, not many people know how badly Baton Rouge was hit. As of last Friday there were reports that power could be out for another 4-6 weeks! Homes have been destroyed and relief help has yet to reach some areas in the bayou.

This area has become very dear to us as we met several amazing people there this summer while filming Anthem.  Jeannie and the girls we filmed, live in the Baton Rouge area and we have yet to get a hold of them. In the meantime we’ve been praying for some way to reach out and help this area.

Watch this video and read this blog to connect with a really simple way to send help.

Broken Voices sent 10 tarps to Healing Place church today. Will you join us in helping the people of Baton Rouge?

“Benched”

September 8, 2008 at 9:56 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , )

Welcome to Monday, hope everyone is doing well this morning. Things continue to move along quickly here at Broken Voices, but today I wanted to share something else. There are some really talented folks here in Atlanta, that did something quite inspiring! They made a short film capturing their story entitled “Benched.” Take a few minutes, follow the link below and let us know what you think. As you will hear in the film, there is a striking difference between just talking about change and actually working to see it happen. Well done guys!

Radio Show in Dallas

September 5, 2008 at 11:36 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , )

Hope everyone is having a great week! We have something a little different for you today. While we were in Dallas in production on Anthem this summer, we had the privilege of being on KCBI’s morning radio show. Click the link below to hear the audio from the show.

There have been a lot of new people joining the Broken Voices conversation. The radio show will give you a chance to hear the heart of why we are here and what we are doing. If you are new to what we are doing, please join us in praying for God to do the incredible in the hearts and lives of young adults in this country. More than an organization, Broken Voices is about the belief that our lives truly do matter, and that we all could be used by Him to echo the Anthem of God into the very places we are living. We love you all and thank you for your prayer with us and for us.

Soundtrack

September 2, 2008 at 1:13 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , )

This past weekend we were in the studio working on a piece for the Anthem soundtrack. People from all over the world have been writing music for the film, but it was especially fun for us watch some friends here in Atlanta work on some tracks as well. As the film continues to come together, it has been amazing to lay in such strong and fitting music. Take a look at the video below for a peek into our time recording.
